No. 68 Terps Fall to 24th-ranked Seminoles

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland men's tennis team fell to No. 24 Florida State, 6-1, in an Atlantic Coast Conference men's tennis match Friday at the Tennis Center at College Park.

The No. 68 Terrapins are now 8-3 overall and 1-2 in the ACC. The Seminoles improved to 10-8 overall and 3-1 in the league.

Andrew Orban and Scott Fink lost in the first doubles match for the Terps. Nickolai Nielsen and Boris Fetbroyt fought for a Terrapin victory at No. 2 doubles, but were narrowly defeated 9-7. Josh Brauser and Michael Coleman were defeated 8-3 at the third doubles matchup.

Nickolai Nielsen brought Maryland its only win, defeating Jonathas Sucupira in the second singles match. Nielsen easily won the first set 6-2. Sucupira, grabbing the second set, 5-7, was ultimately defeated 10-4 in the third set.

Each of the other singles players fell to Florida State. In match one Andreas Vaage-Nilsen lost 6-0, 6-3. His teammates in the third, fourth, and fifth matches were also defeated by the Seminoles. Scott Fink and John O'Rourke lost in two sets, 6-3, 6-2 and 6-1, 6-1, respectively, while Boris Fetbroyt retired after the first set of the fourth match.

Maryland will take on Miami on Sunday at the Tennis Center at College Park.
