ANNAPOLIS, Md. -
The NCAA Champion Maryland women's basketball team spent Monday evening in the capital city of Annapolis visiting the Governor Robert L. Ehrlich's residence and taking part in two sessions of the Maryland General Assembly. Both the Senate and the House of Delegates passed resolutions congratulating the Terrapins on capturing the program's first national title.
The Terps were welcomed to the Governor's Residence by First Lady Kendel Ehrlich and her son, Drew, who presented the team with a drawing of "The Shot" (Kristi Toliver's game-tying three-pointer in the NCAA Championship game vs. Duke on April 4). The Governor signed a proclamation declaring April 10, 2006 a "Celebration Day" in honor of the Terrapins.
The team next visited the State House where the Terps were honored by the House of Delegates and the Senate.
Maryland head coach Brenda Frese and the team presented the Governor, Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller, Jr., and Speaker of the House of Delegates Michael Erin Bush with basketballs autographed by the NCAA Champion squad.
