Scott Fink captured the only win of the day as the Maryland Men's Tennis Team suffered their sixth loss in a row to No. 27 Georgia Tech, 6-1. The match was played at Georgia Tech on Friday. Maryland's record is now 9-10, 1-9 ACC.
The Jackets earned the first point on the afternoon winning all three doubles matches. Gerogia Tech took the first match of the day, defeating third doubels John O'Rourke and Boris Fetbroyt, 8-2. Maryland then fell at No. 1 doubles over Scott Fink and Andrew Orban, 8-4. Second doubles team Nikolai Nielsen and Andreas Vaage-Nilsen also suffered a loss, 8-5.
The Terps came back to tie the game as Fink's opponent in the No. 4 singles foreited due to injury. Fink won the match, 5-4. However, Georgia Tech again took the lead after defeating Nielsen at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-3. Orban also fell at the No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-0.
The match was decided in Georgia Tech's favor with the fall of Vaage-Nilsen, 6-2, 6-1. The final two matches for the Terps were also losses, with O'Rourke at No. 5 singles and Aaron Carr at No. 6.
The Terps will play Saturday at Clemson for their final regular season match.
