#70 Maryland Falls to #25 Wake Forest, 5-2

Winston-Salem, N.C. - #70 Maryland Men's Tennis Team fell in their fifth ACC match of the season to #25 Wake Forest. Maryland's record is now 9-5, 1-4 in the ACC.

In the first doubles match of the day, Josh Brauser and Boris Fetbroyt fell, 8-3. However, in the second doubles match, Scott Fink and Andrew Orban defeated their opponents, 8-4. Maryland and Wake Forest was now 1-1 in the doubles sets, each fighting for the doubles point and an early lead. In a tight third doubles match, Nickolai Nielsen and Andreas Vaage-Nilsen fell, 8-6. Wake Forest now had a 1-0 lead on the Terps.

Orban starting off the singles matches for Maryland, facing #15 Todd Paul. Paul quickly grasped the match from Orban, 6-1, 6-2. #93 Nielsen faced #69 Andrew Hamar in the second singles match. Nielsen won the first set 6-4, but lost in the second, 6-2. In the third set, Nielsen pulled out the first singles victory for Maryland, 1-0 (10-5).

Vaage-Nilsen played third for the Terrapins, falling, 6-3, 6-3. Fetbroyt, playing fourth singles, also fell, 6-0, 6-1.

Playing fifth singles for the Terps was Fink. Fink barely pulled out a victory for Maryland in the first set, 7-5. After falling, 6-7 (2) in the second set, Fink won the third set, 1-0 (10-4), and won the match. Fink was the only player to win his doubles and singles match for Maryland.

Rounding out the match was Aaron Carr. Carr fell in his first set, 6-7 (6), but quickly took the second, 6-0. However, Carr was unable to hold on to his winnings, losing 1-0 (10-7) in the third set.

Maryland will be at North Carolina State tomorrow, April 2.
