In keeping with Terrapin Tradition, the Maryland Competitive Cheer team will perform its nationals routine as well as the required crowd involvement section at Comcast Center on Monday at 7 p.m.
The Terps invite family, friends and the student body to come enjoy their routine and admire the hard work they have put in all year. Since many fans do not travel to Daytona Beach, Fla., this gives them a chance to view the routine. It is also another chance for the team to perform in front of a crowd before taking the stage in Florida.
Senior Jen Carr says the performance is an opportunity to show friends on campus what competitive cheer is about. "It's great because they can come and see what I work for during my hours at practice." Carr says her friends have learned to appreciate her hard work and sacrifice after seeing her perform each year.
The Maryland Spirit Squad will also perform its routine and crowd involvement section Monday. The team will not compete against the All-Girl Competitive Cheer team in Daytona Beach, but will compete in the Division I Small Co-Ed division.
