Maryland Competitive Cheer held its final official practice of the season today outside the Adams Mark Hotel in Daytona Beach, Fla. The practice went extremely well and left the Terps feeling strong and excited for tomorrow's competition.
Despite practicing outside in the sun, and directly next to Clemson and Virginia Tech's practices, Junior Kari Grow said they performed as expected. "We didn't let pressure from other teams distract us...we kept our focus on ourselves."
The routine looked strong overall. Both partner stunts were consistent and clean, as were the dance and tumbling sections. A few adjustments had to be made to the second pyramid, but the coaching staff and the women aren't worried.
"That pyramid has been consistent all year. Sometimes things like that just happen when you practice on a different, more uneven surface (like grass). It will be fine tomorrow when we are back on a cheer floor," Grow says.
The Terps take the mat tomorrow afternoon at 1:47 p.m. in the Ocean Center. They compete eighth out of 25 teams in the Division I All-Girl category.
