Maryland Falls To No. 9 North Carolina, 7-0

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland Men's Tennis Team lost their seventh ACC match against No. 9 North Carolina in a match played on Friday, April 7 at the Tennis Center at College Park. Maryland's record is now 9-8, 1-7 in the ACC.
In the first doubles match, Maryland's Boris Fetbroyt and Scott Fink faced No. 6 Raian Luchici and Brad Pomeroy. The No. 6 position seemed too much for Fetbroyt and Fink to handle, falling 8-3. Second doubles Josh Brauser and Michael Coleman and third doubles Nickolai Nielsen and Aaron Carr each fell, 8-3. UNC now had a 1-0 lead over the Terrapins.
No. 106 Nielsen faced North Carolina's No. 18 Luchici in first singles. Nielsen put up a strong fight, winning the first set, 6-3. However, Nielsen fell in the second, 6-3. With the match tied at 1-1 from the first two sets, Luchici grasped the last set, 6-2, winning the match and advancing UNC's lead to 2-0. Second singles Fetbroyt also fell, 6-2, 6-3.
Fink played third singles for Maryland. Fink lost a well-fought first set, 7-5, but fell, 6-4, in the second set. Fourth singles Carr also lost his match, 6-0, 6-2.
Coleman played fifth singles for Maryland. Coleman was defeated in his match, 6-4, 6-3. John O'Rourke rounded out the match for Maryland, also falling, 6-4, 6-3.
The Terps will play their last home match against No. 6 Duke on Sunday, April 10 at home.
