Maryland Men's Tennis Sweeps Delaware, 7-0

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland men's tennis team improved its spring record to 7-2 with a dominating 7-0 win over the visiting Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens on Saturday at the Tennis Center at College Park. The Blue Hens dropped to 1-6 on the season.

The No. 56 nationally-ranked Terps won each singles and doubles contest of the day. Newcomer Nicolas Frayssinoux clinched the win for Maryland with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Austin Longacre at No. 1 singles.

Frayssinoux also paired with Andrew Orban at No. 2 doubles to secure the point for Maryland, defeating Nolan Greenberg and Jason Hanschmann, 8-2.

Orban, Scott Fink, and Louis-Xavier Lavallee also had wins for Maryland in both singles and doubles play. Orban defeated Greenberg 6-0, 6-4 at No. 2 singles, Fink won over Matt Liebman 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3, and Lavallee defeated Jon Schwartz 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5.

Fink and Lavallee paired at No. 3 doubles to defeat Liebman and Camilo Perez, 8-1. Boris Fetbroyt and David Kwon posted a win at No. 1 over Delaware's Longacre and Andrew Blumberg, 8-4.

Maryland's Nickolai Nielsen and Michael Coleman were also victorious in singles competition. Nielsen defeated Sam Barrer 6-1, 6-4 at No. 4, and Coleman beat Perez 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6.

Maryland head coach Jim Laitta was happy with the team's effort for the day.

"I think overall they competed very well," Laitta said following the match. "I was especially impressed with Michael Coleman's effort. He played very hard."

The Terps will return to the Tennis Center at noon tomorrow to play host to the Cornell Big Red (6-1).

"They're a very tough, well-coached team," said Laitta. "We're looking forward to playing them."
