The University of Maryland women's basketball team, the defending NCAA National Champions, will open defense of their title on Sunday, March 18 with a first-round matchup against Harvard in Dayton, Ohio, based on the pairings announced by the NCAA on Monday night.
Maryland, 27-5 overall, earned a No. 2 seed in the Dayton Regional and will play their first- and second-round games in Hartford, Conn., on March 18 and 20. Harvard will enter the first-round matchup with the Terrapins with a 15-12 record.
The winner of that game will play Tuesday against the winner of the game between Ole Miss (21-10) and Texas Christian (21-10). Game times will be announced on Tuesday by the NCAA.
Tennessee earned the top seed in the Dayton Regional and will open against Drake on March 18. Other top seeds in the Dayton Regional include Oklahoma (26-4) and Ohio State (28-3).
North Carolina (30-3), Connecticut (29-3) and Duke (30-1) were the No. 1 seeds in the 64-team field. Regional sites include Dallas, Fresno and Greensboro. The Blue Devils were the top seed in the 64-team field and will play their first two games in Raleigh, N.C., with an eye toward advancing to Greensboro for the regional.
