CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Blair Weymouth's five goals and three assists sparked No. 7 Virginia to a 15-4 win against No. 3 Maryland on March 13 at Klockner Stadium. The Cavaliers held the dominant Terrapin offense to just one goal in the first half as it took an 8-1 lead after the opening half of play.

Brittany Kalkstein added four goals for the Cavaliers (6-0, 2-0 ACC) while goalie Kendall McBrearty was credited with a career-high 14 saves.

The Terps spent most of the first 11 minutes of the game on the defensive end as UVa jumped out to a 3-0 lead. The Cavaliers won all four draw controls and owned a 6-0 advantage in shots at the 19:09 mark. Whitaker Hagerman started the scoring for UVa with a free position goal at 25:46. Weymouth had a hand in the next three goals as she scored unassisted at 19:27 and then assisted on the next goal by Kalkstein 18 seconds later off of the ensuing draw.

Neither team scored in the next seven minutes as a Kelly Kasper shot was saved from point blank range by McBrearty. Weymouth continued the scoring as she notched her second goal of the half with 12:39 followed by another Kalkstein goal to make it 5-0.

Maryland finally got on the board with 5:52 to go in the half as freshman Caitlyn McFadden found junior Casey Magor on a fast break after a UVa shot went wide. The Cavaliers closed out the half with three more unanswered goals to take the 8-1 cushion into the break.

The first 10 minutes of the second half was full of big saves from both McBrearty and junior Allie Buote but Virginia was still able to rattle off six straight goals to open the half to make it 14-1 with 15 minutes to go in the game. Weymouth had two more goals and an assist during the run.

Junior Dana Dobbie put an end to the streak with two unassisted goals at 14:05 and 9:21 to make it 14-3 but Maryland was unable to get any closer than that. Kailtin Duff added another goal for UVa before senior Krista Pellizzi hit the back of the net with an unassisted tally.

Dobbie was the only multiple scorer for the Terps as she notched two goals. Buote was credited with nine saves in the game.

Maryland (5-1, 2-1 ACC) will now head north to take on No. 9 Dartmouth on March 17 in Hanover, N.H.
