Women's Lacrosse Game Against Dartmouth Moved To Friday

March 15, 2007

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Due to the threat of snow this weekend in New Hampshire, the women's lacrosse game scheduled for Saturday between the No. 3 Terrapins and No. 9 Dartmouth has been moved up to Friday. The game will be played at 1:00 p.m. at Scully-Fahey Field.

Maryland (5-1) is coming off of a 15-4 setback against No. 7 Virginia on Tuesday night. The Terps are 14-1 all-time against the Big Green with its only loss coming in 2005 in Hanover. Last season in a 13-8 win in College Park, senior Krista Pellizzi recorded a hat trick while junior Kelly Kasper added two goals and an assist. Junior Allie Buote had 10 saves in the game.

Dartmouth is a perfect 3-0 on the season with wins against Syracuse, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts. Senior Whitney Douthett, a unanimous first team All-Ivy selection in 2005 and 2006, leads the Big Green in goals (10), points (13), draw controls (15) and ground balls (9). She has been named to the Ivy League honor roll twice this year.

Sarah Szefi has also racked up 13 points on eight goals and five assists. Freshman Julie Wadland has started all three games in goal and has an 8.01 goals against average as she saves 48 percent of the shots she faces.

Maryland returns home for a three game homestand after this trip beginning with No. 11 Johns Hopkins on Wednesday, March 21.
