    Terps Face Harvard & Possible Rematch in the 2nd Round

    • The second seed in the Dayton Regional, sixth-ranked Maryland faces 15th-seeded Harvard to open the 2007 NCAA Tournament. The Terps travel to Hartford, Conn., for its first-round matchup at the Hartford Civic Center on March 18.
    • The Maryland-Harvard game follows the first-round clash between No. 7-seed Mississippi and No. 10 TCU, which tips off at 12 p.m. The Terps' game begins 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first game.
    • If the Terps move on to the second round, they will face a regular-season rematch. Maryland played both Ole Miss and the Lady Frogs in November, both falling by a combined margin of victory 24.5 points per game.
    • Maryland is making its fourth-straight trip to the NCAA Tournament under head coach Brenda Frese. It is also looking to advance to the second round for the fourth-consecutive year.
    • It is Maryland's second trip to the state of Connecticut for a postseason game and its first since 2001.
    • Maryland puts a 30-game win streak against non-conference teams on the line in when its takes on Harvard, the third-longest streak in the nation. The Terps have already faced teams from 14 different conference this season.
    • Every game of the NCAA Tournament will be televised on ESPN or ESPN2 and ESPNU. The Terrapins' first-round game will be on ESPN. The second-round game times and broadcasts will be announced at the conclusion of the first round games.
    • Calling all the action in Hartford will be Nancy Lieberman (analyst), Dave Revsine (play-by-play) and Rebecca Lobo will be on the sidelines.

    Terps Ranked 6th in Final AP Poll
    • The Terps moved one spot up and ended the season ranked sixth in the final Associated Press poll. It is the 14th time in school history Maryland ends the year ranked in the final writer's poll.
    • Maryland has been in the top 10 in the final AP poll 11 times, including this year's sixth national ranking. Last year's No. 3 final rating tied for the highest final ranking in school history.
    • The Terps earned its first No. 1 preseason ranking in school history this season in the AP poll. They remained at No. 1 for 10-straight weeks, before slipping to No. 3 on Jan. 15. Maryland fell out of the top five on Feb. 5, earning its lowest rating of the season at No. 7 on March 6.

    Maryland Remain in The top 10 in Coaches Poll
    • Heading into the NCAA Tournament, the Terrapins earned a No. 6 national ranking in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches poll. The Terps spent five weeks at No. 5, before falling this week to No. 6.
    • Maryland was preseason No. 1 in the coaches poll and remained in the top spot for 10-consecutive weeks. After falling to Duke in January, the Terps slipped to No. 3 overall. The Terps have not been ranked lower than No. 6 by the coaches this season.
    • The Terps garnered the No. 1 spot in the preseason poll, the first time in the history of the program they opened the season as the top team in the nation.

    Tough Schedule
    • Six of Maryland's opponents are ranked in the top 25 this week and three more are receiving votes, two of those opponents are among the top three in the nation.
    • Duke and North Carolina are at No. 1 and 2, respectively, in both polls. George Washington, who the Terps defeated in November, are 14th in the writers' poll and 13th in coaches. Middle Tennessee State is ranked 17th (AP) and 16th (ESPN), while NC State moved up to No. 18 and No. 20 after making its run to the championship game of the NCAA Tournament. Michigan State is 23rd in both polls.
    • Temple, Mississippi and Marist, all teams Maryland has defeated this season, are receiving votes in one or both polls.

    Langhorne Earns Another National Honor; Finalist for Wade Trophy
    Crystal Langhorne continues to be recognized for her talents on the court. She was recently named one of the 12 top finalists in contention for the WBCA's State Farm Wade Trophy, presented to the nation's top collegiate women's basketball players. Langhorne makes the Wade Trophy final cut for the first time in her career.
    • Langhorne is one of four players in the ACC on the list. Also joining her on the list are Duke's Lindsey Harding and Alison Bales, and North Carolina's Ivory Latta. She is also one of three juniors on the list. LSU's Sylvia Fowles and Stanford's Candice Wiggins are also junior on the ballot.
    • Langhorne is also a finalist for the 10-member Kodak/WBCA All-America team, which will be announced on March 31. The winner of the State Farm Wade Trophy will be selected among the 10 All-Americans.

    Langhorne Headed for Another School RecordCrystal Langhorne needs just 18 points for 500 on the season, which would make her the first player in school history with three-straight 500-point seasons.
    • Langhorne is already one of two players in the history of the program with two-500 point seasons. Only Shay Doron and former Terrapin Vicky Bullett have accomplished such a feat.

    Terps in the NCAA Tournament
    • Making its 16th NCAA Tournament appearance, Maryland advances to the tournament for the fourth-straight year, the first time since 1993 the Terps have made four-consecutive trips to the Big Dance.
    • The Terrapins have posted a 20-14 record in 15 appearances, winning the NCAA title last year. They were the third-straight No. 2 seed to win the national championship.
    • Maryland's championship game appearance last year was its first in the NCAA Tournament. The Terps reached their first Final Four since 1989 and their third overall (2006, 1989, 1992). They also have been to the Elight Eight five times and six Sweet Sixteen.
    • In 1989, Maryland earned the program's only No. 1 seed to date. It has been the No. 2 seed five times, including last season when the Terps nabbed the title. Maryland was also the third seed once in 1983 and has never been the No. four, five, 10 or 11 seed.
    • In its three NCAA Tournament appearances under head coach Brenda Frese, Maryland improved its seeding from a No. 12 in 2003-04, to a No. 7 in 2004-05, to a No. 2 seed last year.

    Tournament Tested
    • This year's Maryland Terrapins enter the postseason with extensive NCAA Tournament experience. With just one senior in the starting lineup, only two of the 11 players on the roster have not played in an NCAA Tournament game.
    • Of the nine Terps with NCAA Tournament experience, all but one have played in at least six NCAA Tournament games.
    • Redshirt-sophomore Christie Marrone has the least among of experience in the tournament, playing in one game her freshman year at Virginia Tech. Sophomores Kristi Toliver and Marissa Coleman played in six games last year.
    • Senior Shay Doron boasts the most tournament experience, playing in a school-record tying 10 games. Classmate Aurelie Noirez has played in nine tournament games, while juniors Crystal Langhorne, Jade Perry and Ashleigh Newman have played in eight.

    Terp vs. the Field
    • Maryland faced 12 of the 64 teams who were selected or won their respective conference's automatic bid this seaosn. The Terps are 10-5 against tournament teams this season, defeating Michigan State, George Washington, Middle Tennessee State, Marist, Mississippi, TCU, NC State, Florida State and Temple. Maryland has lost to Duke and North Carolina twice, both are also No. 1 seeds. The Terps also stumbled against the Yellow Jackets, but collected paybacks in the ACC Tournament.

    Tournament Success
    • Maryland had advanced to the NCAA Tournament only twice from 1994-2003. Since then, however, the Terps have made four-straight trips to the Big Dance. Only three other ACC teams can boast such success in the recent future.
    • Of the 12 teams, the Terrapins, Duke, North Carolina and NC State are the only conference squads to have made the NCAA Tournament in each of the last four years.

    Elite Company
    • Maryland is one of only four schools to claim NCAA titles in both men's and women's basketball, joining Connecticut, North Carolina and Stanford.
    • The Terps are also one of just two schools to win titles in men's and women's basketball and football.

    Men & Women Go Dancing
    • Maryland is one of 21 institutions to have both their men's and women's basketball teams competing in the NCAA Tournament.
    • The Terrapins are also one of just four schools who's men's and women's team have received a top four seed (North Carolina, Ohio State and Texas A&M).
