March 16, 2007
The Maryland competitive cheer team will test their stamina this weekend by competing in two competitions.
The Terps compete at the UMBC Grand Championship, sponsored by Spirit Unlimited, in the Retrievers Activities Center at the University of Maryland - Baltimore County on Saturday. The will face the University of Virginia and are schedule to hit the mats at 8:04 p.m.
On Sunday, the team will compete in the Battle at the Capitol, sponsored by the Coastal Alliance Corporation, at the Patriot Center in Fairfax, Va. They will face Morgan State at this competition.
"We have cut the team down to the top twenty that will compete at nationals," said head coach Jarnell Bonds. "This really is a challenge since we have been competing as a team of 32 all year. We face both Virginia and Morgan State; both teams will keep the girls focused and performing at their best."
