TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -
The No. 45-ranked Maryland Terrapins men's tennis team lost its second Atlantic Coast Conference match of the spring season Wednesday evening, falling to the No. 29 Florida State Seminoles at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center in Tallahassee, Fla. Florida State secured a 6-1 victory over the Terrapins.
Florida State clinched the victory at the No. 6 singles position when Bradley Mixson defeated Maryland's Louis-Xavier Lavallee 6-3, 6-0.
Florida State (10-5, 2-2 ACC) swept the Terps in doubles play. Ytai Abougzir and Maciek Sykut clinched the doubles point at No. 1 by defeating David Kwon and Boris Fetbroyt, 8-4.
Jonathas Sucupira and Sam Chang teamed up at the No. 2 position and downed Maryland's Andrew Orban and Trey Taylor, 8-5, while Jean-Yves Aubone and Mixson paired at No. 3 and defeated Nicolas Frayssinoux and Nickolai Nielsen, 8-6.
Abougzir, ranked No. 82 nationally in singles, won at No. 1 singles over Frayssinoux, 7-6 (3), 6-4. No. 119-ranked Aubone played at No. 2 and defeated Kwon, 6-1, 6-0.
Maryland's solo singles victory came at the No. 3 position when Andrew Orban defeated Sykut. With the match tied 5-7, 6-4 after the second set, Orban outlasted Sykut in the third set, 10-3.
The Terrapins (10-3, 2-2 ACC) will look to bounce back at No. 37 Miami at noon Saturday.
