COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Four Terrapins established new career highs as the No. 4 Maryland women's lacrosse team defeated No. 13 Johns Hopkins, 22-15, on March 21 at the Lacrosse & Field Hockey Complex. Leading the way for the Terps was junior Lauren Cohen who scored a career-high six goals and classmate Allie Buote who saved a personal-best 14 shots.

Junior Dana Dobbie racked up a career-high nine points in the win on six goals and three assists, also a personal best. She recorded a season-high 11 draw controls in the game as well. Junior Casey Magor notched a career-high three goals and matched her best game of five points.

Maryland jumped on the Blue Jays early in the game scoring the first three goals and nine of the first 10 over the course of the first 11:34. After Dobbie scored the first Terps goal on an assist from Magor 57 seconds in, the ensuing draw flew towards the Maryland offensive third of the field. Cohen scooped it up and found Magor quickly on the right side to make it 2-0. Dobbie then notched the third goal of the game when she one-timed a loose ball in front of the cage past the goalie.

Hopkins put an end to the quick game-opening run when Sarah Walsh found Alex Nolan for a score at 26:57. The Terps responded with a six-goal run that built an eight-goal lead that proved to be too much. There were five different scorers during the run. Cohen had two of the goals while Magor recorded a goal and an assist. Dobbie notched her hat trick during that span just 10:01 into the game.

The Blue Jays came back with three unanswered goals to make it 9-4 midway through the opening half. Mary Key had two of the goals while Walsh dished out a pair of assists in the run. The Terrapins were able to increase their lead even more before halftime, however, as they took a 14-7 cushion into the locker room.

The seven goal lead would also be the end result as the teams traded goals throughout the second half. The Terps opened up their largest lead of the game when Dobbie found a cutting Katie Doolittle for a goal to make it 17-8 with 17:34.

Hopkins cut the lead to six a couple of times in the half but could not make the run that it needed. Lauren Schwarzmann and Key put on a three-goal run in 3:25 to cut the deficit to 18-12 with 8:35 to go. Schwarzmann had two goals while Key had the third and assisted on the first. The only other time the Blue Jays got within six was with 47 seconds left.

For the Blue Jays (4-2), Key registered five goals and three assists while Walsh had four assists to go with a goal. Schwarzmann tallied a hat trick in the loss while Alex Nolan and Sam Schrum both had a pair of goals. Cherie Michaud picked up six ground balls.

Junior Kelly Kasper added two goals and three assists for the Terps while freshman Caitlyn McFadden had two goals and a helper. Doolittle posted a pair of goals and senior Krista Pellizzi had a goal and an assist.

The Terrapins (7-1) return to action in College Park on Saturday, March 24 when they take on No. 1 North Carolina. The game will be played at Chevy Chase Bank Field at Byrd Stadium at 3:00 p.m. following the men's game at noon. Both the men's and the women's game will be broadcast nationally by CSTV.
