BALTIMORE, Md. - Junior Dana Dobbie was added to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List for her outstanding play through the first half of the season, announced yesterday by the Tewaaraton Award Foundation. Dobbie was one of seven student-athletes added to the Watch List for the award, given annually to the nation's top player.

Dobbie joins teammates Becky Clipp, Katie Doolittle, and Kelly Kasper who were placed on the Watch List prior to the start of the season. The list of 42 student-athletes will be voted upon by coaches and narrowed as the season progresses, ultimately reaching a final list of five women who constitute the award's finalists.

Dobbie has made an immediate impact in her first season in College Park as she leads the team with 32 goals and 38 points. She has also racked up a team-best 45 draw controls, 16 ground balls, and 11 caused turnovers.

Entering last week, Dobbie was third in the country in goals per game (3.83) and fifth in draw controls (4.83). She made a splash in her Terrapin debut when she scored six times and secured 10 draw controls at UMBC in the season-opener on February 19. She established a new career high with seven goals at No. 9 Dartmouth on March 16 and then scored a personal-best nine points on six goals and three assists against No. 13 Johns Hopkins on March 21. Dobbie also grabbed a season-high 11 draws in the win against the Blue Jays.

Dobbie has scored a goal and secured a draw control in every game this season.

Maryland, which is 8-1 and 3-1 in the ACC, plays host to Stanford on Wednesday, March 28 at 3:00 p.m. at the Lacrosse & Field Hockey Complex. The game will be televised nationally on CSTV.
