COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
The Associated Press announced today its three-team women's basketball All-America list, with Maryland's Crystal Langhorne selected to the second team, the second-straight year she's earned the national honor. She becomes the first two-time All-American in the history of the program.
Last year, Crystal Langhorne (Willingboro, N.J./Willingboro) became the first Terrapin since 1989 to earn all-American nods, garnering recognition from the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) and the AP. She is also only the fifth to be voted an all-American.
Langhorne's led the nation in shooting for the second-straight year, knocking down a school and ACC record 70.7 percent of her shots, just 1.7 percent off the NCAA record. She led the team in scoring (14.9 ppg) and rebounding (8.1 rpg) for the second-straight year. She became the first Terp to record three-straight 500-point seasons, ending the year ranked third at Maryland in career scoring (1,711), trailing just teammate Shay Doron (Ramat Hasharon, Israel/Christ the King [N.Y.]) and Terrapin great Vicky Bullett (1,928).
This season, Langhorne was named first team All-ACC for the second-straight year, only the third Terrapin in school history to be named first team all-conference twice, and third time overall. She was voted to the All-ACC Tournament team for the third year in a row, earning a spot on the second team.
Langhorne is among the finalists for several national player of the year awards, including the WBCA State Farm Wade Trophy, the John R. Wooden Award and the Naismith Award.
