Maryland senior Shay Doron was among the top women's basketball players in the nation to be invited to the WNBA's Pre-Draft Camp, which runs March 30-31 in Cleveland, Ohio. Doron is looking to impress the coaches and general managers from the 13 WNBA teams prior to the league's draft, which is scheduled for Wednesday, April 4.
Fifty-one prospects will showcase their skills and compete against one another in drills, half-court scenarios and full court scrimmages during three on-court sessions at Woodling Gym on the campus of Cleveland State University.
Shay Doron (Ramat Hasharon, Israel/Christ the King is the first player under fifth-year head coach Brenda Frese to be invited to the pre-draft camp. Doron is looking to become the first Terrapin since 1998 to be selected by a WNBA squad. Three former players have been drafted, including Sonia Chase (1995-98), Katrina Colleton (1990-93) and Jessie Hicks (1990-93). Three more former Terrapins have played in the WNBA - Vicky Bullett (1986-89), Kelley Gibson (1995-99) and Jasmina Perazic (1980-83).
