Terps Compete in Reach the Beach
March 30, 2007
The Maryland competitive cheer team will compete in the American Cheer & Dance Academy's 2007 Reach the Beach Championship in Ocean City, Md., this Saturday. The Terps will hit the mats at 8:37 p.m. in the Ocean City Convention Center. They will face two collegiate teams Seton Hall and Suny Oneota (Canada).
This competition will serve as the Terps' final tune-up before attempting to defend their 2006 NCA national championship.
"The team is looking extremely strong with their endurance and technique," said head coach Jarnell Bonds. "They are all aiming to defend the national title next week in Daytona and decided that this Ocean City weekend will be their lead in. The music and the choreography for the dance section have been changed to maximize the points in that category."
Maryland won the 2006 Reach the Beach championship averaging 288 point total of a possible 300.
