Men's Tennis Drops Home Conference Match to No. 7 Wake Forest

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - In Maryland's first home match following a three-game Atlantic Coast Conference road trip, the Terrapins suffered a 6-1 defeat as the No. 7 Wake Forest Deamon Deacons were victorious today at the Tennis Center at College Park.
Despite collecting the doubles point, No. 51 Maryland (10-5, 2-4 ACC) lost each singles match.
Wake Forest (15-2, 3-1 ACC) began the affair with a win at No. 3 doubles when Andrew Hamar and Steve Forman defeated Michael Coleman and Louis-Xavier Lavallee, 8-2. Maryland came back at the No. 2 position with a win from Andrew Orban and Boris Fetbroyt over Cory Parr and Charles Sartor, 8-5.
With the two teams tied in doubles, Maryland's Nicolas Frayssinoux and senior co-captain Scott Fink outlasted the No. 74 nationally-ranked pair of Todd Paul and Marius Adamski, 9-8 (8-5), clinching the doubles point and putting the Terrapins ahead 1-0.
Wake Forest came out strong in singles play. Paul, also ranked No. 7 nationally in singles, overcame Frayssinoux 6-3, 6-0 at the No. 1 position. No. 74 Parr defeated David Kwon 6-1, 7-5 at No. 2.
The Deamon Deacons clinched their third conference win at the No. 4 position when Hamar posted a victory over Terrapin co-captain Nickolai Nielsen, 6-3, 7-5.
The Terrapins will play host to No. 20 North Carolina State in a home conference match at noon Sunday. Admission to the Tennis Center is free.
