COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
Rain and the threat of lightning forced Thursday afternoon's football practice to be postponed until tomorrow.
Maryland will hit the field for its eighth practice of the spring at 4 p.m. Friday.
The Terps will resume their normal Tuesday-Thursday-Saturday schedule after that, working out at 10 a.m. Saturday. Maryland will have its second scrimmage of the spring Saturday.
Head coach Ralph Friedgen announced that redshirt freshman Da'Rel Scott will likely miss the rest of the spring due to his knee injury. Scott was battling redshirt freshman Morgan Green for the No. 3 running back spot.
Green and Scott both have both looked impressive this spring behind seniors Lance Ball and Keon Lattimore. With Scott on the sidelines, Green had 17 carries for 77 rushing yards in Saturday's scrimmage.
Friedgen took a few moments Thursday to access the team's development this spring.
"The injuries have hurt our progress on offense because our depth is not as good there," Friedgen said. "Defensively, because we have depth over there, we've had a pretty good spring."
The Terps have eight more workouts planned this spring, culminating in the annual Red-White Game on Saturday, April 28.
Friedgen is looking for continued improvement over the next two weeks, especially on the offensive side of the ball.
"I'd like to see us improve on our execution and our assignments," Friedgen said. "We have a lot of young kids on offense who are missing assignments and breaking down. We spent a lot of time Tuesday trying to get that corrected. It was better in the beginning of practice and then when we got a little tired in the second half, we didn't do as well. Hopefully, we'll come out tomorrow and have a good practice."
