GREENSBORO, N.C. - First-year head coach Cathy Reese was named the 2007 ACC Coach of the Year and junior Dana Dobbie was tabbed the Player of the Year, announced today by the conference office. It is the first time Maryland has received those honors since the 2003 season. Seniors Becky Clipp, Katie Doolittle, and Krista Pellizzi and junior Kelly Kasper were all placed on the All-ACC Team along with Dobbie. The Terps will take on No. 6 Virginia in the semifinals of the ACC Championship on Friday at 5:30 p.m. at Fetzer Field.

The Terps led all teams with five members on the All-ACC Team. This is the second-straight season that Clipp, Doolittle, Pellizzi, and Kasper have been named to the all-conference team. Both Duke and North Carolina placed four on the squad. Virginia's Brittany Kalkstein was named the ACC Freshman of the Year.

Reese has guided the Terrapins to a 14-2 mark and a 4-1 record in the ACC, earning the top seed in this weekend's 2007 ACC Championship. She was twice named US Lacrosse Coach of the Week after wins against No. 1 North Carolina and then against No. 2 Duke. The Terps' high-powered offense set a school record through the first five games of the season with 94 goals, an average of 18.8 per game. Reese is the second head coach at Maryland to win the award as Cindy Timchal won it four times.

Dobbie is the first Player of the Year nod for Maryland since Kelly Coppedge won in 2003. The Guelph, Ontario native has made a huge splash in College Park after transferring from Ohio. She leads the team with 46 goals and is second with 59 points. She ranks sixth in the NCAA in draw controls with 3.75 per outing and 60 in all. She is also 23rd in the country in goals per game with 2.88. Dobbie racked up seven goals in a win at Dartmouth on March 17, which was the most scored by a Terp since Coppedge did it in 2003. She is a Tewaaraton Award semifinalist.

Clipp and Doolittle serve as the co-captains of this year's team. Clipp is second on the squad with 22 caused turnovers and is third with 30 ground balls. In the 19-18 win against Duke on March 3, Clipp drew a charge late in the game that did not allow the Blue Devils a chance to tie. For her effort, she was named the WomensLax.com Player of the Week.

The Catonsville product has started every game since her sophomore season and is the leader on the Maryland defense. Despite being marked up with the opposition's most dangerous threat, Clipp still makes an impact in every facet of the game.

Doolittle has also started in every game since 2005 and controls the midfield for the Terrapins. She is third on the team with 26 draw controls, fifth with 26 goals, and sixth with 23 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers. The Manlius, N.Y. native uses her game-changing speed to jump start the Maryland attack.

Doolittle has been a constant presence in the midfield for Maryland since she arrived on campus in 2004. She has played in all 75 games since her freshman year and has started every contest since 2005.

Pellizzi is having a career year for the Terps on offense as she has racked up 43 goals, 19 assists, and a team-best 62 points. Her 43 goals matches her personal season best heading into the ACC Championship. Six times this season she has recorded at least six points in a game and she has posted five goals four times. She matched her career highs with five goals, three assists, and eight points against Boston College back on February 24.

The North Massapequa, N.Y. native was a two-time ACC Player of the Week this season and was a major reason Maryland clinched the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament this weekend with her performance at Virginia Tech. Pellizzi ignited the Maryland offense in the second half as she scored four goals and assisted on another during a game-winning 9-1 run.

Kasper, who hails from Eldersburg, puts up big numbers in every statistical category. Her 20 assists this year are second on the team while also putting up 18 goals. She is first on the squad with 25 caused turnovers and her 24 draw controls are fourth. She has also picked up 17 ground balls.

The Tewaaraton semifinalist has been a mainstay in the Maryland midfield during her three years in College Park. The last two seasons, she has started every game she has played in and she has missed just one game in her career.

Maryland will take on No. 6 Virginia in the semifinals of the 2007 ACC Championship on Friday at 5:30 p.m. at Fetzer Field in Chapel Hill, N.C. The Cavaliers advanced with a 15-7 win against Boston College in the first round on April 26.
