April 26, 2007

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland football team will close its 2007 spring season on Saturday with the annual Red-White game at Chevy Chase Bank Field at Byrd Stadium. The contest is scheduled to kick off at 3:30 p.m. (ET) and admission is free.

Saturday's game will be the culmination of 15 spring practices, including three scrimmages, which have taken place over the last five weeks.

The spring game will pit the Red team vs. the White team under a normal game format with four 12-minute quarters. There is also a third team - the Black squad - which features offensive linemen and specialists who are eligible to play for either Red or White.

There will be a number of activities surrounding the football game, which is the conclusion to Maryland Day 2007, the ninth annual campus-wide event for families, alumni and current students.

Terp football players will have a chance to interact with the fans earlier in the afternoon. They will be available from 1-2 p.m. for an autograph session on the concourse on the north side of the stadium.

Alumnus and local television personality Tim Brant will serve as host to a meet-and-greet session with fans at 2:30 p.m. inside the stadium. Brant, sports anchor at WJLA-TV in Washington, D.C., will discuss Terps football in a tent located in the west end zone of the stadium.

Free t-shirts will be given out to the first 2,000 fans through the gates.

There are some options for fans not able to attend the game.

The game will be broadcast on the Terrapin Sports Radio Network with Jonathan Claiborne and Tim Strachan on the call.

The radio broadcast can be heard live on WHFS (105.7 FM) in Baltimore and WTBO (1450 AM) in Cumberland, Md.

The game can also be viewed and heard live over the internet through Maryland All-Access.

In addition, the game will be re-broadcast in a tape-delay format from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday on Comcast Sports Net. The regional sports network will air the game again from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 6.

The WMUC broadcast team of Nick Verderame, Sam Duvall and John Willmott will call the action on television.

Due to the high volume of traffic on campus Saturday, fans attending the game are asked to park in the Terrapin Trail Garage on the west side of Comcast Center.
