Postgame Quotes

Maryland Head Coach Ralph Friedgen

On Wake's 24-3 comeback:
"They came back to bite us. It was very disappointing. We got tired, we'd been on the field a long time; it was hot. Some of our inexperienced players made mistakes and it began to show."

On Maryland's defense:
"I think our defense played well until the momentum changed. [Riley Skinner] is a good quarterback. We didn't tackle him very well. I thought we did a good job of stopping their running game. We played solid defense in the first half. Then our momentum changed."

On Alfonso Smith's interception:
"They were confused, they were moving all around. The clock was running down. George saw a guy open and [Alfonso Smith] just buzzed in. He made the play and it changed the momentum of the game. I have a young quarterback and he threw the interception and he won't do it again."

Linebacker Erin Henderson

On the Maryland defense:
"We were mixing up a lot of different things. Towards the end of the game we started running some basic stuff and they were able to do more things with that. But we did a good job in the first half of mixing it up. They went into halftime and made some good adjustments."

Quarterback Jordan Steffy

On today's game:
"I think I always can play better. It's disappointing when you're up by that much and then give the game away. There's a lot of work to be done when we get back to practice."
