Kristi Toliver and Demauria Liles each posted double-doubles, leading six players who scored in double figures, as third-ranked University of Maryland scored a 107-37 victory over Team Evolution in a women's college basketball exhibition game Friday night.
Toliver, a preseason All-America selection, had 19 points on 8-for-12 shooting and dished out 10 assists in only 24 minutes. She went 3-for-5 from 3-point range.
Liles, a junior transfer, had 15 points and 11 rebounds to add to three blocks and three steals in 21 productive minutes.
Marissa Coleman added 17 points, Marah Strickland had 16, Lynetta Kizer added 14 and Yemi Oyefuwa chipped in 10 off the bench as all five Terrapin starters hit double figures. Drey Mingo had 10 rebounds off the bench for the Terps, who led 52-20 at halftime.
Renee Taylor had seven points to lead Team Evolution, which shot just 22 percent from the floor in the game.
Maryland led 21-12 with 12:55 left in the first half, but scored the next dozen points over a four-minute stretch. Taylor hit a 3-pointer for the visitors, but the Terps went on a 16-point run to lead 49-15 with 2:57 left in the half.
The Terrapins led 52-20 at halftime behind 12 points from Toliver and 10 from Strickland.
Maryland opens its 2008-09 season at Texas Christian on Friday, Nov. 14. The Terrapins' first home game of the year is Sunday, Nov. 16 when they play host to Delaware State.
