FAIRFAX, Va. -
The Maryland competitive cheer team completed another strong routine Sunday evening at the Battle at the Capitol nationals, hosted by the Coastal Alliance group. The Team competed against Morgan State University, but has yet to receive final score sheets and placement results from the judges' panel.
Head coach Jarnell Bonds was extremely pleased with the team's performance. "It was a really good performance for us," said Bonds, "The timing in our two-handsprings through to full twists was impeccable. We received wonderful feedback from the crowd."
She mentioned that sophomore Amanda Soven and senior Janelle Corrie had strong performances in the team's dance section.
The team will compete next weekend at Cheer Ltd.'s College Open held in Myrtle Beach, S.C. This will be the first competition in which the Terps compete on a hard-floor surface, the same surface they will compete on at NCA Nationals in April. Next weekend will also be the last performance for the full team. The Terps will cut down to 20 members for their final competitions.
