GREENSBORO, N.C. - Senior goalie Allie Buote was named the ACC Player of the Week after recording 17 saves in a pair of Maryland wins last week. The Annapolis native stopped a season-high 10 shots in an 8-5 win against No. 2 Virginia and then recorded seven saves against No. 16 James Madison in a 16-10 victory.

Buote led the Maryland defense to an overwhelming performance against the Cavalier offense on March 4, allowing just five goals to a team that went into the game averaging 14.33 per game. It was Virginia's lowest scoring output in almost eight years dating back to 2000.

Buote then went on to make seven saves, five in the second half, in 52 minutes against James Madison on Saturday.

She had a mere 6.44 goals against average last week and saved 58.6 percent of the shots thrown at her.

The Terps (4-1, 2-1 ACC) host two more games this week as Richmond visits College Park on Wednesday night and No. 12 Dartmouth comes into town on Saturday afternoon.
