The Maryland competitive cheer team will head south to Myrtle Beach, S.C. this weekend to compete in Cheer Ltd.'s College Open. The Terps will compete in the Large Collegiate division and are scheduled to take the floor at 7:25 p.m. They will be the first team to perform in their division.
The Terrapins are against teams from Newberry College, Christopher Newport University, James Madison University and University of Virginia.
The competition will take place Saturday night at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center with the awards ceremony scheduled for 9 p.m.
This will be the last competition in which the team performs with all squad members. After this weekend, only 20 girls will compete with the team in preparation for NCA nationals. This competition is also the team's first on a hard-floor surface, the surface used at NCA Nationals.
