March 13, 2008
COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The No. 50 Terrapin Men's tennis team will play host to the No. 1 Virginia Cavaliers at 1 p.m. Saturday, at the Tennis Center at College Park.
Maryland (9-2, 1-1) is riding a five match home winning streak, while Virginia (15-0, 1-0) has beaten six top-10 teams, and only one team that wasn't ranked in the top-51.
Last time the Terps were in action they won three matches, each at home by a score of 7-0, against George Washington, Delaware and UMBC.
Maryland is led by the undefeated team of Andrew Orban and Boris Fetbroyt, the No. 11-ranked doubles team, and freshman sensation Amit Inbar, the No. 68-ranked singles player in the nation.
The Cavaliers have a line-up full of ranked individual players, including No. 1 Somdev Dewarman, No. 4 Dominic Inglot, and No. 23 Treat Huey at singles.
Virginia also has three doubles teams ranked in the top-18, including the No. 1-ranked pair of Dewarman and Huey, and another doubles team ranked No. 38.
Last season, the No. 53 Terps traveled to Charlottesville, Va. to take on the No. 3 Cavaliers. Maryland managed one win at doubles, and earned two singles wins from current Terps Fetbroyt and David Kwon.
This weekend's match is the first in a string of nine consecutive ACC matches for the Terps, as they look to continue their early success in the second half of the season.
