No. 53 Terps Men's Tennis Hits the Road to Face ACC Opponents

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The No. 53 Maryland men's tennis team will go on the road to face two tough ACC opponents this weekend, as they square-off with No. 29 Wake Forest and No. 54 NC State.

In their last action, the Terps (9-3, 1-2) fell at home to No. 1 Virginia, and dropped three positions in the rankings to No. 53. With its victory in the Virginia match, Maryland's doubles team of Nickolai Nielsen and Amit Inbar broke into the ITA's national rankings for the first time this season as they became the No. 40-ranked doubles team.

The doubles team of Andrew Orban and Boris Fetbroyt slipped in the most recent rankings, but are still the No. 18-ranked doubles team. Inbar, the freshman from Tel Aviv, Israel, held his ranking as the No. 68-ranked singles player.

The Terps will first travel to Winston Salem, N.C., looking to knock off No. 29 Wake Forest (9-6, 1-1). The Deacons have lost their last three matches, but still have two ranked singles players in Corey Parr (No. 59) and Steven Forman (No. 82), and the No. 14-ranked doubles team made up of Parr and Foreman.

After the match against Wake Forest, Maryland will travel east on Tobacco Road to Raleigh, N.C. where they will face No. 54 NC State (7-8, 0-2). The Pack is coming off consecutive losses to No. 21 Alabama and No. 66 Duke, but has one ranked singles player, No. 70 James McGee, and one ranked doubles team, the No. 9-ranked pair of Nick Cavaday and Jay Weinacker.

This weekend's matches are the second and third for the Terps in a string of nine matches against ranked ACC opponents. The match against Wake Forest will start at 1 p.m. Friday, and the match versus NC State will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday.
