Maryland is ranked fifth in the final Associated Press poll, appearing in the top five every week.
The University of Maryland is hosting the NCAA Tournament first and second rounds for the second time in four years.
The Terps' No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament is the second time in the history of the program they have earned a top seed.
The Terrapins' last non-conference loss at Comcast Center was against Ohio State in the second round of the 2005 NCAA Tournament, a string of 30-straight non-conference victories at home.
Maryland is undefeated at home this season, winning a school-record 19 games on its home court.
The Terps played their first 14 games in the first 31 days of the season and ended the regular season playing their last four games an 18-day stretch.
Maryland surpassed its win total from a year ago. Last year's team went 28-6 overall and 10-4 in ACC play.
Maryland has recorded four-straight 20-win seasons for the first time in school history.
For the first time in the history of the program, Maryland has won 10 ACC games in three-consecutive seasons. Its 13 league wins and 92.9 winning percentage both tie school records.
The Terps' four All-ACC selections are a school record. Crystal Langhorne is Maryland's first four-time All-ACC honoree and one of just 10 in the history of the ACC to be named to the first team three times.
Marissa Coleman's three-straight All-ACC selections makes her one of four Terrapins all-time to be named all-conference at least three times.
The Terps are one of two teams in NCAA history to have four players with 1,300 career points on the roster (along with 01-02 Connecticut). They are one of 12 known teams with four 1,000-point scorers.
The Terps have had at least one player with a double-double in 28 of their 33 games and lead the country with 45 team double-doubles.
Crystal Langhorne and Kristi Toliver are finalists for the Naismith and Wooden Awards.
Crystal Langhorne and Kristi Toliver were selected WBCA Region II All-Americans.
Kristi Toliver is a finalist for the Nancy Lieberman Award, presented to the nation's top point guard.
Terps Receive No. 1 Seed in Spokane Region
The fifth-ranked Terrapins received the program's second-ever No. 1 seed, garnering the top seed in the Spokane Regional. Maryland tips off its title hunt with 16-seed Coppin State on Sunday, March 23 in the second of four games that day at Comcast Center. The winner will go on to face the winner of the No. 8 Nebraska-No. 9 Xavier game on Tuesday night, March 25.
Maryland also hosts No. 3-seed Duke, No. 6-seed Arizona State, No. 11-seed Temple and No. 14-seed Murray State out of the Oklahoma City Regional. All first and second round games will take place at Comcast Center.
It is the second time in four years the Terrapins host the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament. The last time the event was held in Comcast Center was when this year's senior class were freshmen in 2005.
The first and second round games will be televised on ESPN or ESPN2. Pam Ward will be the play-by-play with Nancy Lieberman providing analysis. Holly Rowe will be on the sidelines.
Terps Receive Top Five Final Ranking
The Terrapins end the 2007-08 campaign ranked fifth in the Associated Press poll. It is the second time in three years Maryland finishes with a top-five national ranking.
The Terps have been ranked in the top five in the writers' poll every week this season, reaching as high as No. 3 and never falling below No. 5. Their only three losses have come to No. 2 North Carolina and No. 7 Rutgers on the road, and a neutral-site setback to No. 10 Duke.
Seven Maryland opponents appear in the final top 25 poll. This season's schedule featured games against Rutgers (#7), LSU (#4), Oklahoma (#11) and Notre Dame (#19). Conference rivals North Carolina (#2), Duke (#10) and Virginia (#23) also finish the campaign in the rankings.
Four more opponents are receiving votes in the AP poll: Ohio State, Pittsburgh, Temple and Middle Tennessee State.
Two Named to WBCA Region Team
Crystal Langhorne and Kristi Toliver were voted to the WBCA Region II All-American team. Langhorne becomes the first Terrapin to ever earn all-region nods three times.
The duo are among the 52 players on the eight regional teams to be eligible for the final ballot for the State Farm/WBCA All-America team, an honor which Langhorne earned last season.
Langhorne was the 2008 ACC Player of the Year and was named first team All-ACC for the third-consecutive year. Toliver was a first team all-conference performer this season.
Frese Nearing Milestone
In nine years of coaching, Maryland's Brenda Frese is just one win from 200 for her career.
Boasting a 199-83 mark, Frese made stops as head coach at Ball State and Minnesota, before settling in College Park, where she has been for six seasons. At all three programs, she has made amazing turnarounds, earning the 2002 Associated Press National Coach of the Year honor.
Home Sweet Home
Maryland has won a school-record 19 home games so far during this campaign, breaking the program mark set during the 2005-06 campaign. It is the sixth-longest active streak in the nation. Hartford has the longest active win streak at 26.
Maryland finished the home season undefeated. Its 19 home victories is believed to be an NCAA record. UNLV posted 21 wins at home in 1978-79, before the NCAA.
Ungracious Hosts
Completing the non-conference schedule capturing the Terrapin Classic, Maryland has a 30-game home win streak against non-conference opponents.
The Terps' last non-conference loss at Comcast Center was to Ohio State in the second round of the 2005 NCAA Tournament.
Since moving to Comcast Center in 2002-03, the Terps have gone 49-4 in non-conference games. The four losses were to teams ranked in the top 25 at the time of the meeting.
Cramming Comcast
For the second-straight year, Maryland is among the top 10 in the nation in attendance. Entering the week, the Terps ranked eighth in the country with a 7,926 average attendance, according to the University of Wisconsin, who compiles the unofficial figures. Maryland surpassed the 150,000 mark for the second-straight year.
In 2006-07, the Terrapins had a school record 152,523 fans come to Comcast Center for 16 home games. Its 9,533 fans per game was the best single-season jump in average attendance, more than double the previous year's average attendance. Maryland finished sixth in average attendance last season, the highest ranking for the Terrapins in the history of the program.
Maryland has recorded three of the top 10 attendances in ACC history this season (vs. Duke, vs. Virginia and vs. Florida State), also three of the top 30 attendance marks in the nation. Its attendances vs. Duke and Florida State, both which drew more than 15,000 fans each, are among the top 10 attendances in the nation this season.
Maryland also owns nine of the ACC's top 10 attendance marks in league history.
Terps Lead the Nation in Double-Doubles
Maryland's 45 team double-doubles are the most for any team in the nation this season. At least one Terp has achieved the feat in 28 of the team's 33 games. Five different Terrapins have recorded a double-double this season.
Terps are Top Shooting Team in the Nation
With the latest NCAA rankings released on March 13, the Terrapins were the top shooting team in the country, ranking first in field goal shooting, knocking down 50 percent of their shot attempts.
Maryland is ranked in the top 10 in five more categories. It boasts the second-best scoring average in the nation, ranked fourth in rebounding margin and sixth in scoring margin. The Terps' 90.9 percent winning percentage (reflecting a 30-3 record) is ranked fifth in the country.
In the indvidual rankings, senior Crystal Langhorne is second in the nation in field goal shooting. She led the country in the category the last two years. Junior Kristi Toliver is fourth in the nation in assists per game. Both are also ranked in the top 100 in several different categories.
Senior Laura Harper boasts the third-best shooting percentage in the nation, while Marissa Coleman is in the top 65 in free throw percentage.
Toliver Threatens Single-season Assists Record
First team All-ACC performer Kristi Toliver is just one assist from tying the ACC and Maryland single-season mark which has stood since 1978.
Former Terrapin great and hall of famer Tara Heiss dished out 249 assists during the 1977-78 campaign. Toliver has handed out 248 assists so far this season.
