Final Stats
RALEIGH, N.C. -
The No. 53 Maryland men's tennis team fell on the road to No. 54 NC State, 7-0, Saturday in Raleigh, N.C.
Playing without junior co-captain Andrew Orban, the Terps (9-5, 1-4) were forced to adjust the line-up at both singles and doubles, and the Wolfpack (9-8, 2-2) took advantage.
Filling in for Orban at No. 1 doubles was Amit Inbar, who teamed up with Boris Fetbroyt, Orban's usual partner. When paired together, Inbar and Fetbroyt went 3-0 during the fall season, and entered the match 1-0 during the spring.
Despite their success in the past, the team of Inbar and Fetbroyt couldn't overcome the No. 9-ranked doubles team of Nick Cavaday and Jay Weinacker, losing 8-6.
Playing at No. 5 singles, Maryland's Alex Aksanov took the first set against Derek Stephens, but couldn't sustain the momentum, and lost 1-6, 6-2, 6-2.
The Terps will continue ACC play the next time they are in action, as they play host to No. 13 North Carolina at 3 p.m. Friday, March 28, then square-off with No. 66 Duke at 11 a.m. Sunday, March 30.
