Maryland Men's Tennis Can't Overcome Tar Heels

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The No. 63 Maryland men's tennis team lost at home to No. 9 North Carolina, 6-1, at the Tennis Center at College Park on Friday.
The Terps (9-6, 1-5) lost for just the second time at home this season, in their second home match played outdoors.
The win over Maryland is the ninth consecutive win for the Tar Heels (13-3, 3-0), who are still undefeated in the ACC.
Maryland's lone win came from freshman Amit Inbar, the No. 68-ranked singles player in the nation. Inbar jumped out to a quick lead at No. 1 singles against No. 112-ranked Benjamin Carlotti, and cruised to the win, 6-2, 6-0.
Playing together in their second consecutive match as a doubles team, Inbar and Boris Fetbroyt put up a great fight against the No. 4-ranked doubles team of Chris Kearney and Taylor Fogleman.
The match between each side's No. 1 doubles team was tight throughout, though Inbar and Fetbroyt never lead. There were five ties, with the last one coming at 6-6, just before the Tar Heels held serve, then broke the serve of Fetbroyt after a long deuce point to win the match, 8-6.
The Terps will be back in action Sunday at 11 a.m. when they play host to No. 40 Duke, at the Tennis Center at College Park.
