    COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Senior midfielders Dana Dobbie and Kelly Kasper have been named Tewaaraton nominees, announced April 16 by the Tewaaraton Award Foundation. Maryland is one of three teams with multiple players on the list. The Tewaaraton Trophy is handed out annually to the nation's best player in both men's and women's lacrosse.

    Dobbie was a finalist for the Tewaaraton Trophy in 2007. She leads the country this season in draw controls with 87 and averages over six per outing. The Guelph, Ontario product leads the Atlantic Coast Conference in five different statistical categories including goals (49), goals per game (3.50), points (60), points per game (4.29), and draw controls.

    Dobbie has been named Co-ACC Player of the Week twice this season. She has secured five or more draw controls in nine of Maryland's 14 games including six games with eight or more. She has also scored three or more points in 13 games this season.

    Kasper, who is already a two-time All-American, ranks second in the ACC in five stat ledgers including assists (28), assists per game (2.00), points (59), points per game (4.21), and draw controls (41). She has recorded five or more points in eight games this season and has picked up multiple assists in seven contests.

    Kasper has been named ACC and Inside Lacrosse Player of the Week this season and is a two-time recipient of the Player of the Week award from WomensLax.com.

    The two senior captains and their eight classmates will play their last regular season home game on Saturday when the Terps host Virginia Tech at noon at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex.
