COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
Former University of Maryland defensive tackle Dre Moore was chosen with the 16th pick in the fourth round (115th overall) of Sunday's NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Randy Starks was the last Terrapin defensive lineman to get drafted. He was taken by Tennessee in the third round of the 2003 NFL Draft.
Offensive lineman Steve Ingram was the last Terp drafted by Tampa Bay (seventh round in 1005).
A two-year starter and four-year letterwinner, Moore played in 44 games, including 26 starts in his final 29 contests.
The native of Charlotte, N.C., tallied 140 career tackles, including 17 1/2 sacks and 10 1/2 sacks.
Moore was a first-team All-ACC selection by ACSMA and ESPN.com last fall when he registered 63 tackles, including 8 1/2 tackles for loss and a team-best six sacks, the most by a Terrapin since 2004 (Shawne Merriman, 8.5). He also forced two fumbles and had the lone interception of his career.
Moore played in the 2008 Senior Bowl and took part in February's NFL Combine, along with Erin Henderson, Andrew Crummey and Joey Haynos, all of whom are expected to sign free-agent contracts this week.
Also hoping to catch on with an NFL team are Lance Ball, Carlos Feliciano, Isaiah Gardner, Jason Goode, J.J. Justice, Keon Lattimore and Christian Varner.
