Maryland Overwhelms Ohio State
GREENSBORO, N.C. - Senior midfielder Dana Dobbie was named the ACC Co-Player of the Week on April 8 for her performance in a pair of Maryland victories last weekend in the ACC/ALC Challenge. Dobbie filled the stat sheet with a combined eight goals, three assists, 21 draw controls, five ground balls, and four caused turnovers.
Dobbie shares the award with North Carolina's Kristen Taylor who led the Tar Heels to a pair of wins in Chapel Hill as well.
Dobbie helped the Terps extend their winning streak to nine games with her performance. In Maryland's 12-11 triple overtime win on Friday against Penn State, Dobbie scored a pair of goals and added an assist. She also secured 10 draw controls in the win.
She then had a monster game against Ohio State as the Terps overpowered the Buckeyes, 21-6, on Sunday. Dobbie scored five of her six goals in the first half, added two assists, and picked up a season-high 11 draw controls. She also recorded four ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Dobbie's 21 draw controls in the two games were more than the entire opposition had on the weekend which was 18. She led the Terps in goals, points, ground balls, and caused turnovers on the weekend.
The Guelph, Ontario native leads the nation in draws per game with 6.08. She is also ninth in goals per game (3.75) and 13th in points (56) and caused turnovers per contest (1.83).
Dobbie and the rest of the No. 3 Terps will hook up with No. 9 North Carolina on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. at Fetzer Field.
