Team Game Notes
Line-up: Tonight's starting lineup was made up of Anjale Barrett, Lori Bjork, Lynetta Kizer, Kim Rodgers and Diandra Tchatchoung. This new starting lineup is now 1-0 this season.
Key run: After falling behind 0-7 just under four minutes into the game, the Terrapins went on a key 11-0 run with nine minutes remaining in the half. The streak was jumpstarted by Tchatchouang's made free throw, which was followed by a trey by Jackie Nared. Maryland led at the break 31-22.
Led by Kim Rodgers (14), Diandra Tchatchouang (13) and Lynetta Kizer (10), The Terps are 7-0 when at least three players score 10 or more points.
The Terrapins and the Golden Gophers battled on the boards throughout the game. Maryland won the battle, 40-36, and has out-rebounded their opponent in all games except one (at Mississippi State, 42-41).
The Terps held the Gophers to just 27.1 percent shooting from the floor (16-of-59). The second-lowest shooting percentage for an opponent this year (New Hampshire shot 25.8 percent, which was 16-of-62). In both the New Hampshire game and tonight's game, the opponent went 7-for-30 in the first half. Minnesota was the fourth opponent this year the Terps held under 50 points.
Maryland had a team season-high seven blocks in the contest. Diandra Tchatchouang, Lynetta Kizer, Essence Townsend each stopped two and Jackie Nared blocked one.
Individual Game Notes
Sophomore guard Kim Rodgers tied her career-high in points with 14. She also pulled down eight boards, dished two assists and had one strip. Rodgers went 4-for-10 from the field and made one three-pointer. She was a perfect 5-5 from the foul line. She has made 12 of her last 13 free throws dating back to the Drexel game.
Freshman forward Diandra Tchatchouang scored 13 points in Thursday's win, extending her streak of double-digit points to three games. The ACC Freshman of the Week filled the scoresheet with six rebounds, two blocks, two steals and one assist. She shot 4-for-9 from the field and was 4-6 from the charity stripe.
Sophomore center Lynetta Kizer scored ten points in the victory. She shot 80 percent from the field (4-of-5) and was perfect from the foul line (2-for2). In the rebounding battle, she pulled down five boards. Kizer also blocked two shots and had one steal.
Senior guard Lori Bjork notched nine points in the win, as did freshman guard Dara Taylor. Bjork went 3-for-9 from the field and was 3-for-3 from the foul line. Taylor made 4-of-8 field goals and made a free throw. Bjork also dished four assists.
In just nine minutes on the floor, sophomore center Yemi Oyefuwa was 2-for-2 from the foul line and pulled down four rebounds, three of which were on the defensive end.
