Postgame Quotes

Maryland Head Coach Brenda Frese

On tonight's game:
"You know, it was nice to be able to have a team win like that. Anytime you can come back to our fans and playing at home, and obviously to be able to have everybody play in an ACC game is a tremendous thing. I thought the second half, especially, we were much more focused and played really intense basketball. It's a nice, solid win for us."

On the differences between halves:
"I thought in the first half we did some nice things offensively. I thought defensively, we had some easy breakdowns. That's the area that we're not playing to the score, we're playing [for] us and just wanting to fine-tune and continue to be aggressive in our defense."

On the development of the new post players:
"With our post play, it's fun to be able to see each and every game out. Dee [Liles] and Lynetta [Kizer] continue to just keep getting more and more confident. I thought Drey [Mingo] did tonight, as well. That's what we have to have happen; we have to have a post presence. The way [NC State] shot the ball today, I thought we were really aggressive on the boards, especially Dee. That's something we have to have happen for an inside-outside combination."

Senior Marissa Coleman

On the team's success:
"I think we're finding each other, finding the open teammate. Kristi [Toliver] was hot; she had the hot hand so everyone was finding her. I think we did a good job of swinging the ball on the perimeter."

NC State Coach Stephanie Glance

On the game:
"We gave up a lot of easy shots. Maryland did a good job of moving the ball around, getting the ball into positions to score."

On Maryland:
"They could be a team to go to the Final Four, they are that good. We were changing our defenses throughout the game; they would have shot 70% [anyway]. They shot very well."

On the team's reaction to the death of Kay Yow:
"We are moving forward, not moving on. We are moving forward because that's what we must do as the season goes on. We spend a lot of time together as a team."

On the halftime tribute to Kay Yow:
"It is a testament to a successful woman and a tremendous person. She was a great person and a great coach for the past 47 years."
