COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
The KICKS Against Breast Cancer event in Germantown, Md., and the annual alumni game highlight the 2009 spring Maryland women's soccer schedule, Maryland women's soccer coach Brian Pensky announced today.
The spring season kicks off on Sunday, March 29 with a match in College Park, Md., against Rutgers. Maryland then has two more home matches, beginning with Georgetown on April 3 and concluding with George Washington on April 9.
The following Saturday, April 18, finds Terps at the 13th annual KICKS Against Breast Cancer intercollegiate women's tournament at Germantown, Md. Maryland will face Villanova and Ohio State at the event.
Kicks against Breast Cancer (KABC) was established in honor of Claudia Mayer who passed away in 1996 after a two-year battle with breast cancer. Funds raised from the tournament have been used to assist with the operating expenses for Howard County General Hospital's Claudia Mayer Cancer Resource and Image Center in Columbia. Maryland and mammography screenings were offered to more than 30 women who lacked health insurance. We are proud to say that lives have been saved as a result of the screenings. Since the inaugural tournament, many other businesses have joined in establishing additional fundraising events.

Maryland then hits the road for a pair of games at University Park, Pa., on April 24. There the Terps will play host Penn State and Bucknell.
The Terps wrap up the spring schedule on April 25 with the annual Terrapin Alumni game.
