Freshman attacker Karri Ellen Johnson was named womenslax.com and womenslacrosse.com Rookie of the Week, following her performance against fourth-ranked North Carolina.
After battling to a first-half tie, the Terps escaped with a 13-8 victory. Three of Johnson's four goals came in the second half while the rookie added two ground balls, two caused turnovers and a draw control in the match.
Johnson has been a prolific offensive addition to the Maryland offense, leading the squad with 50 goals thus far in her freshman campaign. The Terps (14-0, 4-0 ACC) look to complete an undefeated regular season when they take on Johns Hopkins and Virginia Tech to close out the 2009 campaign.
