Final Stats
CARY, N.C. -
The Maryland men's tennis team ended its season on a sour note with an ACC Tournament loss to No. 27 Virginia Tech, 4-0.
The Terps (7-14, 1-11) could only muster one win at doubles, that coming from the number three doubles team of Nickolai Nielsen and Mathias Sarrazin. The pair increased their record as doubles team to 4-2 with a win over Sebastian Jacques and Luke Somen, 8-6.
Once singles play got underway, the sixth-seeded Hokies didn't wait long to end the season for Maryland, taking the three matches needed to win in straight sets at numbers two, four and five singles.
As a team, Maryland played tough all season long, putting up a fight in every match throughout the talent laden conference schedule.
With the early exit from the conference tournament, the Terps as a team, as individuals and as doubles pairs are left waiting to hear from the committee as to whether they will receive bids to the 2009 NCAA Tournament.
