Team Records and Series Notes
• Maryland improves to 16-6, while Longwood falls to 5-17.This was the first meeting for both teams, so the Terps now lead all-time 1-0.
• After today’s win, the Terrapins are 4-0 on the year against teams from the state of Virginia. This year, they have beaten Old Dominion, No. 19/21 Virginia, Virginia Tech and Longwood. Three of those games were on the road in Virginia.
• Head coach Brenda Frese is closing in on her 200th win at Maryland. After Thursday's game, she currently stands at 192-66 (.744).
• Maryland will continue its ACC play Friday night when it hosts No. 25/RV Georgia Tech Friday night at 8:30 p.m. It will be shown on the Raycom Sports Network.
Team Game Notes
• Line-up: Dara Taylor, Lynetta Kizer, Kim Rodgers, Lori Bjork, Diandra Tchatchouang. This lineup is 3-2.This lineup has now started the last four consecutive games. No other Terrapin lineup started more than three games in a row.
• Key run: Sophomore guard Kim Rodgers started the game off on a run for the Terps when she hit her first three just eight seconds in. She hit three in the first two minutes of the game to open a 9-1 lead for the Terrapins. Sophomore center Lynetta Kizer followed with two layups to open a 13-3 lead before the first official timeout.
• Maryland opened a 20-2 run over the first seven and a half minutes of the second half to pull away at 64-26.
• Four Terps finished in double figures in Sunday’s game. Lynetta Kizer, Kim Rodgers, Lori Bjork and Jackie Nared all finished with double-digit points. The Terrapins are 9-0 when four or more players finish in double-digit points.
• Maryland outrebounded Longwood, 51-30. The Terps are 16-3 when the hold the rebounding advantage.
• The Terrapins hit ten trey’s in Sunday’s game, their highest three-point total of the season.
• The Terps grabbed 11 steals in the game, their second highest steal total in a game for the year. They had 12 against New Hampshire.
• Maryland scored 44 points in the first half, which is their second highest for the year. They scored 45 against Drexel and 43 twice against Old Dominion and Samford. It was the ninth time this year they held an opponent under 30 points in the first half. The Terps are now 16-1 when leading at half.
• The Terps’ 85 points was their second-highest scoring total of the year. They scored 88 in the first game of the season against North Carolina Central.
• The Terrapins held the Lancers field goal-less from 5:03 left in the first, until 12:31 left in the second. Longwood hit three free throws in that 12.5 minute span.
Individual Game Notes
• Sophomore guard Kim Rodgers led the way for the Terps with 15 points total and 5-6 shooting from the field, all of which were from three point range. In the first half alone, she hit a new career high with five three’s made (5-5 in first half).
• Freshman guard Jackie Nared had her first career double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds, which was a new career high in rebounds. She was 5-for-9 from the field and 1-for-4 from outside the arc. She also notched an assist, a block and a steal.
• Senior Lori Bjork, the ACC's three-point leader, had 12 points on the day with 5-for-9 shooting from the field. She also added three steals in the game.
• Sophomore center Lynetta Kizer added 13 points in the win, as well as eight boards. She was 6-for-11 from the field.
• Freshman guard Dara Taylor dished eight assists on the day, as well as scored five points, grabbed three rebounds and had two steals. She was 1-1 from outside the arc and 2-for-2 from the foul line.
• Freshman forward Tianna Hawkins pulled down 11 rebounds and scored eight points on 3-for-6 shooting from the field. She also notched two blocks.
