COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland Terrapins defeated the Clemson Tigers, 71-51, Sunday afternoon in Comcast. The Terps remain on the road until they return home for their final game of the year against Florida State on Feb. 28 at 3 p.m. ET.

Clemson scored the first four points of the game but Maryland answered back with a 7-0 run of their own to gain control of the lead for the remainder of the game. Freshman Diandra Tchatchouang sparked the run with a layup. Freshman Dara Taylor followed up with a three-pointer and Tchatchouang capped it off with a jumper.

The Terrapins went on a 13-2 run to close the half, 37-19. Taylor hit her second three-pointer to kick start the scoring streak. Tchatchouang, Lynetta Kizer, Yemi Oyefuwa all scored inside the paint to aid in the run.

The 19 points scored by the Tigers in the first half was the lowest scoring first half by any Terrapin opponent this year. It is also the second lowest number of points scored in a half by any team.

Maryland continued to run the floor and the scoreboard in the second half.

After going 9-for-9 from the charity stripe in the first half, the Terps continued spot on free throw shooting for their second best performance from the free throw line of the season hitting 82.8 percent (24-for-29).

Kizer led the Terrapins in scoring with 18 points and added seven rebounds. She was also perfect from the charity stripe with a career-high 10 makes in a career high-tying 10 attempts. Taylor scored a career-high 17 points, reaching 10 in just the first half. She added five assists and five rebounds. Tchatchouang also recorded double-figures with 14 points and grabbed six rebounds. The La Courneuve, France, native hit a career-high six free throws, going 100 percent from the line.

Also registering career marks was Oyefuwa who pulled down a game and career high eight boards. All but one Terrapin player scored at least two points. Maryland also outrebounded Clemson 48-33.

Maryland continues to lead in the all-time series with Clemson, 37-24. The Terps hold the advantage in College Park, 21-8. The last nine games have now gone to the Terrapins.

The Terps have a bye Thursday before they head to Durham, N.C., for a rematch with No. 8/7 Duke on Sunday, Feb. 21 at 1 p.m. ET. The game will be televised on RSN and broadcasted live by Terrapin Sports Radio Network.
