COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland Terrapins were unable to grab a second win over the No. 24 Virginia Cavaliers Monday night as UVA took the win, 82-68.

Freshman Tianna Hawkins earned her fourth career double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds, leading the squad in both categories. Hawkins was perfect from the free-throw line, hitting all four attempts. Senior Lori Bjork also didn't miss a point at the charity stripe going 6-for-6.

The Terrapins led at the half, 35-32, after taking the lead with a 17-6 run sparked by a jumper from Bjork with 3:42 on the clock.

Virginia took over in the second half with 16:13 on the clock and never looked back. The Cavaliers were sparked by a fast break jumper from senior Monica Wright for a 15-2 run to secure the lead. Wright finished the game with 34 points.

The Terps saw great production from their bench as freshman Jackie Nared produced 11 points, two assists, one steal and four rebounds. Her defensive efforts helped the Terrapins contain Wright in the first half to just 3-of-8 shooting from the field. Maryland was also able to score 15 second chance points from their 17 offensive rebounds.

Maryland outmuscled the Cavaliers (17-6 overall, 6-3 ACC) under the basket 40-33. The Terps have outrebounded their opponents in all but two games this season and tied once. They rank first in the ACC in rebounding margin (+10.8). Freshman Dara Taylor tied her career-high in rebounds with seven, four defensive and three offensive, and added four assists.

The Terrapins (16-8, 3-6 ACC) play their next game on the road against Wake Forest on Thursday, Feb. 11 at 7 p.m. ET.

Maryland returns home to face Clemson on Sunday, Feb. 14 at 2 p.m. ET. Single-game ticket packages are available for purchase online at umterps.com or by calling the Terrapin Ticket Office at 1-800-IM-A-TERP.
