The No. 62 Maryland men's tennis team will put its nine-match win streak on the line in conference play this weekend, playing host to No. 1 Virginia and visiting No. 22 Virginia Tech.
The Terps (13-2, 1-0 ACC) are off to their best start since 1986, and have their highest rating in the Campbell's/ITA College Tennis Rankings in nearly two years.
This weekend's matches will be the first in conference play for the Terps in a month. Maryland's last match in the ACC was a Feb. 19 win over Boston College.
Virginia (17-1, 2-0) enters this weekend on a fourteen-match win streak, most recently defeating No. 4 Texas, 9-4, on March 7. The top-ranked Cavaliers have eight players ranked nationally for singles, led by No. 3 Sanam Singh and No. 4 Michael Shabaz.
Virginia Tech (7-3, 1-1) is led by Yoann Re, ranked 51st nationally for singles, and Luka Somen, ranked 67th nationally for singles. The No. 22 Hokies knocked off No. 25 Nebraska, 5-2, on Wednesday.
Friday's match against Virginia will start at 2:30 p.m., and will be played outdoors at the Tennis Center at College Park. Sunday's match at Virginia Tech will begin at 10 a.m. in Blacksburg, Va.
