COLLEGE PARK, Md. - After a triumphant first round in the 2010 Women's National Invitational Tournament Friday evening, the Maryland Terrapins are set to face East Carolina Sunday at noon ET.

Tickets are on sale NOW and fans can purchase tickets online at www.umterps.com or by phone at 1-800-IM-A-TERP. General Admission seats are only $10 for adults and $8 for children, while reserved seats are just $12.

In the 88-53 win over Iona College, the Terps earned their 20th win this season, giving head coach Brenda Frese her 10th career and sixth consecutive 20-plus win season.

Sophomore Kim Rodgers and freshman Tianna Hawkins led the Terrapins with 15 points each. Rodgers was 5-for-6 from the field, all shots from behind the arc to tie her career-high, in just 15 minutes of play. Hawkins earned her seventh career double-double adding a game-high 10 rebounds to her 15 points as well as one assist, two blocks and a steal. Three other Terps contributed at least 10 points. Senior Lori Bjork posted 12, freshman Jackie Nared put up 11 behind three treys and a jumper and sophomore Anjale Barrett added 10 points and five assists.

Maryland found their stride early in the first half going 18-for-32 from the field (.563) and hitting seven of their season-high 13 three pointers. The Terps continued spot on shooting with a 17-for-33 performance in the final 20 minutes. They outrebounded the Gaels 52-30 and outscored them in the paint, on second chance points, on fast breaks and in bench points. The Terrapins' largest lead came with four minutes on the clock as Nared hit a jumper to extend the advantage to 38.

The 88 points scored by Maryland tied their season-high which they first achieved in November in the season-opener against North Carolina Central. It was the fifth time this season the Terps reached the 40 point mark in both halves.

East Carolina is coming off of an overtime victory over Drexel. The Pirates were down by one at the half and even trailed by as many as 14 points in the second. Sophomore Jean Best hit two free throws to send the game in to overtime after tying it up, 66-66. A missed three at the end of overtime seemed to have given Drexel the win but junior Allison Spivey grabbed the offensive rebound and knocked the ball in as seconds ticked off the clock.

The Lady Pirates matched their season average from the field, shooting 46 percent while holding the Dragons to 41 percent. East Carolina also ended up on top in rebounding 42-33 while picking up 16 important offensive rebounds.

The victory gives East Carolina its second-ever postseason win and first that was not in a consolation round. The Lady Pirates also drew within one win of tying the program single season record while improving to 5-0 in overtime this year.

Maryland and the Pirates have never met on the court before. The Terps are 5-0 this season against opponents they met for the first time this season.
