COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
The Maryland men's tennis team will conclude the home portion of its schedule this weekend when the Terrapins play host to ACC foes Miami and Florida State.
This weekend's matches will be the seventh and eighth straight contests against ranked opposition for the Terps (13-8, 1-6 Atlantic Coast Conference), with both Sunshine State teams entering the weekend ranked in the top 50 nationally.
Maryland has been successful this season playing in College Park, with 11 of the team's 13 wins coming at home.
The Terrapins have only suffered three home losses this season, and all have come at the hands of conference foes currently ranked in the top 20.
Miami (7-10, 1-6 ACC), ranked 50th in the nation, got off to a strong start this season, but has struggled of late, dropping eight of its last ten contests. However, the Hurricanes did pick up a win in their last match, a 5-2 victory over N.C. State on Sunday.
Florida State (12-6, 5-3 ACC) comes into the weekend having lost three of its last four matches, including a 5-2 loss to Wake Forest last Sunday. They are 25th in the latest ITA rankings.
The Seminoles feature a trio of ranked singles players, No. 24 Jean-Yves Aubone, No. 40 Vahid Mirzadeh, and No. 63 Clint Bowles.
Friday's match against Miami will start at 2:30 p.m., while Sunday's match against Florida State will begin at noon. Both matches will be held at the Tennis Center at College Park, and admission is free for both matches.
