COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
The Maryland competitive cheer team will compete in the NCA Nationals Thursday in Daytona Beach, Fla. The Terps are three-time national champions, winning the All-Girl title in 2006, 2007 and 2008.
The Terrapins will compete in the All-Girl IA division and are scheduled to take the mat at 9:44 a.m. Thursday. Their division starts at 10:01 a.m. with the team from Michigan State.
The Terps will also compete against teams from Oregon, Penn State, N.C. State, South Carolina, Ohio State, Pittsburgh, Louisville and Georgia. Louisville won the 2009 crown.
Maryland has taken first place at all competitions this year except Cheersport nationals in Atlanta in February. The Terps hosted a home exhibition last Friday with the spirit squad and the team from Towson to showcase routines for fans.
The top teams from Thursday will advance to Finals Friday at the Band Shell, located on the beach. Fans can watch the competition live at varsity.com.
