COLLEGE PARK, Md. - With spring practice in the rear view mirror and classes concluding last week on the Maryland campus, it's somewhat quiet around the Terrapin football program.

However, here are some recent news and notes on the Terps, as well as the summer schedule of events:

Six Terps Take Part in Graduation: Finals ended at the University last week and six Terrapin football players participated in graduation ceremonies which took place on Friday and Saturday on campus. Former players Cory Jackson and Anthony Wiseman joined current Terps Emani Lee-Odai, Joey McQueeney, Adrian Moten and Da'Rel Scott in donning caps and gowns.

Eight Terps on Steele Preseason Teams: Phil Steele Publications released its preseason All-ACC teams last week and eight Terrapins appeared on the four squads. Torrey Smith was a first-team choice at kick returner and second team wide receiver. LB Alex Wujciak earned a spot on the first team defense. He was joined by SS Antwine Perez (second team), FS Kenny Tate (third team), LB Adrian Moten (fourth team) and LB Demetrius Hartsfield (fourth team). Travis Baltz, a first team All-ACC choice in 2008, is listed on the fourth team preseason all-league team after an injury-plagued 2009. Da'Rel Scott, another first team all-conference performer in 2008, is listed on the second team offense.

Off-Season Program Begins Next Month: Spring practice ended over six weeks ago, but the Terrapins will continue prepping for the 2010 season next month. Voluntary workouts with strength and conditioning coach Dwight Galt begin on Tuesday, the same day summer school starts. The nine-week program continues until July 30 when the Terps will take a break before preseason camp opens on Aug. 10.

Randolph to Play in CFL: Former Maryland offensive lineman Dane Randolph signed with the BC Lions of the CFL, the team announced Wednesday. Randolph played in 41 career games at Maryland (2005-08), including 24 starts, all at right tackle. As a senior in 2008, he played in all 13 games, starting seven at right tackle and was one of eight Terps to earn Academic All-ACC honors. He was signed as an undrafted free agent by Green Bay after the 2009 NFL Draft and spent the season on the Packers' injured reserve list. CFL teams open practice next week.

Terps in the NFL Update: There will be nearly 40 former Terrapins attempting to make an NFL roster this summer. Maryland had 31 of its former players on NFL rosters at the end of the 2009 season, the third-highest total among Atlantic Coast Conference teams, trailing just Miami and Florida State. Six players from last year's squad were either drafted (OL Bruce Campbell - Oakland; DB Nolan Carroll - Miami) or signed as free agents (OL Phil Costa- Dallas; DL Travis Ivey - Miami; RB Cory Jackson - San Diego; DB Terrell Skinner - Minnesota). In addition, Dean Muhtadi (Arizona) and Nick Novak (San Diego), both out of football last season, signed free-agent deals in the off-season.
