CLEMSON, S.C. - The No. 13 Maryland women's basketball team won 80-59 at Clemson Sunday afternoon in Littlejohn Coliseum. Freshman Alyssa Thomas led the Terrapins with 21 points and Tianna Hawkins scored 19 in the second half for the win.
Thomas finished with 21 points, nine rebounds and a career-high seven steals. Hawkins notched her second career double-double with her 19 points, including 9-of-11 free throws, and 10 rebounds. She scored all of her points and grabbed eight rebounds in the second half.
Maryland (14-3, 1-2 ACC) went 27 for 60 from the floor and hit 23 of 38 free throws.
The Terps held a 38-34 lead at the break. The Tigers led by as much as six with just under six minutes remaining behind Kirstyn Wright's 12 points in the first half, but a three-pointer by Anjale Barrett with 4:10 remaining gave Maryland back the lead for good.
Leading 46-42 with 17:47 remaining in the first half, the Terrapins held the Tigers scoreless for over four and half minutes for a 11-0 run that made the score 56-42. Hawkins led with 11 points in the first nine minutes of the second half.
The Terps won the battle inside, outrebounding the Tigers 43-37. They outscored Clemson in the paint 40-28 and 21-11 in second chance points.
Maryland has 16 turnovers and forced 25 out of the Tigers. The Terrapins dished 16 assists and Barrett led with five.
The Terrapins will head to Virginia to play at 8:30 p.m. Friday. The Maryland-Virginia game will be shown on the regional sports network, which consists of Comcast SportsNet, Fox Sports Net South, Fox Sports Net Florida, and New England Sports Network.
Friday's matchup will also be broadcast on the Terrapin Sports Radio Network and can be heard on ESPN 1300 (Baltimore) and ESPN 980 (DC).

This season's on-air schedule for "Under the Shell," a behind-the-scenes television show on Comcast Sports Net chronicling the University of Maryland women's basketball team's season, has been finalized.
"Under the Shell" is back for its seventh season. A ground-breaking series, it is the only show of its kind, chronicling a women's basketball team and giving fans their own "all-access" pass.
New episodes will air on Comcast Sports Net every two weeks at 9 a.m. Sunday morning, which and will be carried regionally on cable and nationally via satellite. The show can also be viewed online via MarylandWomensBasketball.com. The next new episode will air Jan. 30 at 9 a.m.
The players are the stars of the show and throughout the season, cameras follow the team on and off the court, with each episode told through the voices of the team. During its seven-year run, viewers have been taken inside the team for memorable moments, including the run to the 2006 National Championship, the 2009 ACC Championship, Coach Frese's pregnancy, road trips and numerous exciting games.
